Samin Nosrat is an Iranian American chef who was born in San Diego, California to Iranian parents who emigrated from Iran to the United States back in 1976. In 1997 Samin enrolled at the University of California, Berkeley majoring in English, whilst at the University she took a detour into the kitchen of Chez Panisse restaurant which she says determined the course of her life and career. Nosrat has a cookbook called Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat which was called “food book of the year” by Times London and was a New York Times best seller, the cookbook has won many awards and Samin now has a Netflix docu-series based on the book. The show has been described by The Washington Post as “unlike any other food show on TV.” Samin has become a household name going on various American talkshows such as Jimmy Kimmel Live and has even met former first lady Michelle Obama, she is also a regular columnist of The New York Times Magazine.
